How white Borneo is produced

White is generally the label for the youngest leaves that are big enough to harvest. Their veins are still light, and producers try to keep the finished powder light too, which is why white leaf is typically dried indoors, away from direct sun, on screens or racks with moving air. Shorter drying and little or no fermentation are the usual goals. Practice still varies from farm to farm, and some white lots are partly sun-dried. Published lab comparisons of red, green and white products have not found the color name to be a dependable guide to measured alkaloid content, so check the color COA below rather than leaning on the word "white."

About Borneo as a label

The island of Borneo is shared by three countries: Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei. Most of the kratom it exports comes from Indonesian Kalimantan, where the tree grows wild in river valleys and is also planted by smallholders. When a vendor calls a powder "Borneo," it points to that general region, not to a specific estate. Our page names no farm, so treat Borneo as the trade name it is.
